Capcom Talks Downloadable Content

Capcom says they are looking for other ways to bring content to Wii owners while waiting for Nitendo to start approving and putting a pipeline in place for downloadable content.

"We're still thinking about ways that we can get that content to them, perhaps not downloaded, but perhaps with a consolidated retail SKU," said Christian Svensson, Sr. director of strategic planning and research for Capcom. "We're still just tossing around ideas in our head."

Even though the system for downloadable content may still be in the works, Capcom is supporting the Wii's Virtual Console with titles such as Street Fighter.

For now, their downloadable content will be exclusive to the PS3 and Xbox 360. "There are some file size limitations that don't dovetail well with what we've currently got on the PS3 and Xbox 360," Svensson said.

The first downloadable title for the Wii Shop channel will be Impossible Mission and is expected to b released Summer 2007
